I just came back from Harry Potter - The Half Blood Prince movie with A.B and The Best Friend to which we came out going, "HUH?"
Seriously what the hell? The movie makes no sense at all, even to a book reader like me! For those who had never read the book, or have really been living in the bottom of some forgotten well, you might also ask yourself the biggest glaring question of all time.
1) WHY ARE YOU THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE???????
No word, no explanation, no hint, not even a single shred of flashback memory of WHY is Snape known as the Half Blood Prince. Instead we are treated to the wonderful facial expression of Snape as he slowly intones, "I AM the Half Blood Prince!" and then... NEXT present scene immediately!
Uh... why are you the half blood prince??
No idea. Movie just ended there.
2) Why is Harry wandering like an idiot alone? Isn't he supposed to be protected by the Order at all times?????
3) Tonks and Remus are married already?? Though I'm GUESSING that was Tonks as... no hair style changes or colour to suggest that she's a Metamorphagus
4) Uh I thought Narcissa's fully blond like her son and husband? And she's supposed to be the youngest sister of the Black family; Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa. She looks like a bloody aunty in the movie!!!! Like someone's oba-san!!!
5) Fenir is supposed to attack Harry and then transmit his lycanthrophic virus to Bill Weasley who is in a relationship with Fleur. No mention ever so of Bill or Fleur. No mention Charlie. And no mention of Percy.
6) No explanation given also why Professor Slughorn "collects" people for his Slug Club. Only stupid hints here and there. And then Ginny suddenly turns up with NO reason at all.
7) The opening "scenes" was just a waste of budget which serves no purpose at all. Uh... ok... so you apparated around London on a tour... and somehow cause a bridge to dance... and... ok... SO??????????????? What's the point??? Fancy graphics?
There's of course much much more huge discrepancies which I'm too tired to remember now. It's probably a conspiracy by J.K. Rowling to have such a bad movie that you will still be forced to buy her books. And while the movie is pretty bad(at least to me), it will undoubtly make millions as it is one of those films that you just have to watch. No matter how bad it is. You just have to watch it.
It's just... terrible. Entertaining... in a brainless way.
P.S. The "fight" scenes were mehhhhhhh

no fighting scene..... only draggy.... however besides graphics.. nothing is worth to be mentioned... :(
I also give the "HUH?" when Snape announced he is the Half Blood Prince. And I was hoping an explanation on why the ah-pek is collecting people. Too many things are unexplained.
The opening scene is so flash! Thought it was part of the book. =P

>> i was surprised that they even bothered with the cameos. the air time was all of... 1-2 mins?

>> yea, this is quite a bit of a hole in the story. but i suppose screen adaptations need to prioritize what to share.

>> it was nice to watch though. =) i just thought they should have followed up later to tie it to the rest of the movie more strongly.
